Did you ever go to college...............?

If so, how did you date? I'm not talking about going to your lgbt club and making it a potential outlet(went there and found it distasteful -_-), but just everyday people. How do you find, or let others know, you're interested without having to ask the person directly, because 9/10 times it turns out they're straight and the situation becomes awkward? How did you do it?
